The name apatite comes from a greek word which means 'to decieve' probably for the fact it resembles tourmaline and beryl. it comes in many colors but the nean blue color is most desired because of its resemblence to paraiba tourmaline one of the most expensive gems in the world. apatite is soft at 5 on moh's scale and should not be cleaned in ultrasonic or steam cleaners. only wear apatite pieces occasionally because they will chip or break easily.
